Thanked: 481GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY!
This thread made me go and count, and now I'm scared!
I started off with one single razor. An old George Butler. I have had this for about 15 years, but was not a serious shaver either. In the last few months, I have gotten serious, and it looks like so has my RAD!
Umm, how many licks does it take again Lynn?
Ahhh one....Ahh twoooo.....aahhhummmm thirty five
Oh crap, wait, that doesnt include the 7 day boker set
nuts, or my 5 blade shaving rotation... I think I have more on the way too.
Thank all thats holy I dont have a wife. She would have killed me by now!
I think I had better start honing, shaving, and parting out! trade in all these cheapies for some good stuff. =D

Thanked: 1I agree with Zacsdaddy. It's good to try out all the different styles before you get "hooked" on one, if budget/finance affords.
I wanted to experiment with different blade sizes (5/8" vs 7/8"), different points (round vs spike) and the "No maintenance" option
My first straight razor order consisted of a Dovo 5/8" stainless, a TI 7/8" spike point, and a feather Artist Club RX. It was an expensive first order but I wanted to try out multiple razors before settling on "the one".
I've learned a lot with each one:
- Spike point is tricky
- I don't like a 7/8" size/weight in my hand. I find it too hard to maneuver
- you can cut yourself really badly with a feather (or any razor for that matter)
- When i first started with a straight it wasn't a hobby to me so the feather was great no maintenance option and became my daily shaver for about a year.
I may even sell my TI 7/8" as I haven't used it in well over a year.

14 and counting for me, and I've only been shaving with a straight for 2 months. SWMBO is starting to growl...
Cheers,

I am counting but as long as I have more years
than razors things are OK.
