I got the cheapest Dovo carbon steel 5/8" full hollow. After i got my technique down, I got a 3/4 hollow razor so I could try something heavier, and then a stainless steel full hollow so I would have a razor that would hold an edge longer than a carbon steel. I feel like these 3 razors give me all I need. Once I start to learn to hone, I'll be able to practice on my cheap Dovo.

I have been shaving for a few weeks and have one: A Dovo Best Quality 6/8. In hindsight, i wish i would have went with the tortoise instead of black.

I've been at this game for about 9 months. I have 9 razors that are shave ready or close to it. I've also learned a lot about what I like and what I don't like. I'm ready to part with some that I thought were the bees knees to find a few that I found out I like better. It's a process.

I have 2 on the way and have never shaved with one! I am also ordering a third.
The reasons are simple. I need one to learn everything on. That one can be the one I am always messing up on the stone or strop or whatever.
The second reason would be that I get to try out the different types and sizes to see which suits me best.
You never know, I may find a gem in one of the cheap ones.

I'm a newbie 1 month in and I currently have 1 blade (Imperial Razor no. 20507), though I've been advised to get another. I'd like to have at least two, if only to compare shave worthiness. Of course, the trick is finding the right one at the right price :-)

Default Just 2 at the moment

I bought a real cheap one first. Then I discovered this great website, and ordered a Dovo Best Quality 6/8 and strop from SRD. At least I can use the cheap one to work on my stropping technique a bit, so it is not a total loss.

I'm a full on newbie; I've been str8 shaving for a week and a half now, and I have but 1 razor for the task. It's a Dovo 5/8" Half Hollow that I picked up from Amazon along with a strop and brush. Despite my non-existent collection and lack of experience, I can feel the RAD creeping up the back of my neck, so I'm avoiding ebay like the plague. I plan to acquire more razors at some point, but I don't want my collection to outstrip my experience, so I'll hold off on getting razor #2 until razor #1 is getting close to needing it's first hone.
