How Many Razors Do Newbies have?
I know the question has been asked in general, and it seems when you get responses from the more seasoned guys, you start to see some reasonably large inventories. But my question is just for the newbie (or for the seasoned veterans - back when you were a newbie). The Beginner's guide to straight shaving's Basic equipment section lists 1 or 2 razors. Personally, I have 1. I'm just curious what the other newbies out there have.

I had 8, but I just donated one for the drawings. None are currently shave ready. I just started collecting them and have since decided to start shaving with them. I will probably have 2 that I will actually use.

I have been through about 10 shave ready ones, but only one keeper right now. I do have a custom blank that should be arriving where it will be scaled sometime soon and I plan on that being a keeper too. I'm really not much of a collector...

I bought a new Dovo when I started almost a year ago. It's all I've used ever since. Personally it would have been nice to have two, but by the time I purchased everything I thought I would need I didn't have a lot of extra money to throw around. I'm probably one of those people who will end up owning lots of razors but honestly all a person needs is one.

Well, I was gifted a 5/8 Joseph Allen that was very shave-ready by Glen, and I am waiting for a 5/8 Diamondine to be shipped to me; so that makes it two in total. Two.

I used just one for the first 6 months. By then I new it was something I really enjoyed & wanted to continue enjoying. Good-luck-!

I have 3, but I think 2 is good enough (sure, 1 is actually good enough). Two reasons:
1) I like to have the contrast between two differently ground razors
2) It's nice to always have 1 really sharp one ready to use-- seems like when I finish touching up one razor, the other one just starts to pull a bit, so with 2 I can put off honing until I feel like it
