Who me? I started by finding some sub15$ str8 razors for a buddy a year ago. Both of them honed well and were passed on. Then I found a couple, <10$ W&B and Wolsty, for my son and learned that I had a good eye for steel. Then...Well I have ten restored razors ready for the hones, 12 more ready for scales and the hones. Another ten or more that will be restored including a few <1895 Sheffields, I gotta learn before I really hit hard steel!!!!. And and a humongous box of stuff that came along with all the above.
And.. a few, like 20+ DEs that are now in great shape. A few red tips, A couple blue tips, a few slims, an Aluminum handled traveler in a 2" by2" zipper case and a couple nice Autohones in box. a couple Fat boys and ....I use one about three days a week.
And I have one good shave ready Straight and use it a couple times a week. And as the razors come off the hones I shall find the type and grind I like best and ...

I've been shaving with a str8 razor for a month and a day now. I have acquired 7 all together, but 2 of them are from a flea mart shop that I will use to practice honing with - $20 for the pair. The others I bought shave ready and I've shaved with all of them for at least a week except the most recent purchase I shaved with once. I like them all and all give good shaves with operator only limiting factor. Two were bought new, two are near new from SRP classified and one vintage from same.

I have been straight shaving for about 3 months now and have accumulated about 12 shave ready razors. Almost all of them are 1/4 hollow 5/8 with barber notches. For some reason they give me the best shave. I have a very wiry beard and full hollow's leave more stubble on my face. I probably just don't have good techniques yet. I have 2 - J.r. Torrey's, 2 - G. Wostenholm's, 1- Joseph Allen, 6/8 Wiss and Sons, 7/8 Wosenholm wedge, King Midas, Rex 8 from Sweden, Tonsorial from Sheffield, and an HSB.

I've been using a Parker SRW shavette for about 3 months, but I got my first "real" straight just yeseterday off of SRP classifieds. It's a Townsend Special 11/16 full hollow square point. It gives a better shave than the shavette, and with far less concentration required to avoid nicks (IMO). I've only used it once, but so far it works great.

I'm trying hard to avoid RAD, as I keep looking at other razors for sale. Luckily, I'm up to one, so hopefully I'll be happy with that for awhile.

I've got 5. Only one is really shave ready, another one is near, and the other 3 need some serious work on the hone.

I do have one other blade only that I'm trying to make scales for as well.

Ok, so, I have been straightin for a few months now. It all started with a Wester Bros and a Wostenholm I found on Craigs List. Then, while on vacation, I ran into a deal I couldn't pass up. Four more vintage razors, one Torrey, for $50. Then I got my heart set on a DD Goldenedge. This is where the trouble begins because my wife got the hunting bug. Now, thanks to her, I have about 20 in verious conditions with 6 of them shave ready. Also, I found blanks made by F. Herder which I have 9 of. As I type this, the last few minutes are ticking away on what I hope to finally be that DD I wanted. LOL

    Default Three so far

I found a small collection of straights in a local antique shop after wanting one for a couple years. Picked up three so far, all needing to be sharpened from scratch.

    - A 5/8ths, quarter-hollow, square point Adrian & Stock Blitz, from Solingen. My favourite, aesthetically. The celluloid scales cracked at the pivot, I'm already shaping a pair of new wooden ones for it.

-a 5/8ths, half-hollow, round point Geneva Cutlery Corp. Tiger with flat, beige plastic scales. I'm trying to learn how to hone with this one, but I can't get past an uncomfortable, tugging level of sharp.

-a 6/8ths, full-hollow, smiling Late W. Greaves & Sons. Chipped black scales and a badly bent pivot pin. Also some curiously rough grinding marks by the stabilizer on one side, and on the back side of the shank. Light patina, but still has a decent shine.

I seem to be stuck on the learning curve with my honing, unfortunately. I hope I can figure it out soon.
