    Default Tales of Carnage

When you walk into the office with a gash on your face, and someone asks you what happened ... what do you tell them?

"I saved a falling cat by catching it with my face ..."

"I was auditioning for the next Batman movie ..."

"We were playing Russian Roulette with switchblades ..."

Got a good one you can share?

So far no gashes. But when I do, I'm going to claim I have a second job as a private detective and I got too close to a case, ala "China Town"

Learning to shave with a straight razor. Watch their face

I think most people would believe the Switchblade Roulette more than an "outdated mini-sword"

No noteworthy gashes yet, and hopefully never will, but my answer would be "cut myself with a straight razor". Why hide it?

Yep, when I did it I just owned up to the cut..!

I got some funny looks and a few questions! I actually had to bring one into work once as I was mailing it on somewhere else and a few people came and had a look.

Cue choruses of "You dont actually SHAVE with that do you?"

    "Yep" says I..! :-)

What's wrong with the truth, "I cut myself shaving."?

Just have fun and tell them that you cut your self with a straight razor. Then comes the "What?, Like the barber?, Like in the movies?" etc... Usually after that they will think you are crazy.

At least those have been the majority of the reactions I have gotten when I tell someone how I shave. No major cuts so far and hopefully ever.

When I started and got the occasional nick, cut or rash - people didn't ask. (Either didn't notice or being polite).

Once I had a couple of cuts it was more obvious and one of my yr 7 students asked me about them. I said I'd tell them later and meant to, but didn't.

While I don't mind saying I cut myself shaving, I see this as a more private activity - if that makes sense. I'm happy to talk about straight razor shaving with anyone, but generally keep it as my own thing.

If I wanted to have fun though - I'd say it was a sabre cut from a duel.
I'm not sure what would get the better reaction - saying this or telling the truth!

    All the best,
    Michael.
