Glad to find you
Hi there
My husband is just beginning to try out his new razor etc that he got for Christmas. He is wishing he had someone to actually coach him through it. He hacked his face up pretty good last weekend. So we're looking here for some support.

Welcome to SRP!
If you wanna have some real fun, read the wiki on the site and sit down while he shaves and start coaching him like you've been doing it for years, "There you go sweety, remember to keep your angle at thirty degrees."...."good, good, now remember to use a light touch...excellent."

Well you have found the best support network available, hands down. Definately absorb everything you can from the Wiki, it is a wealth of information. Welcome to the forum!

Tell your husband to watch out for his ear lobes. I've done it myself and have read many posts where beginners cut thier ear lobes.

gingercaruso,
In addition to the wiki and the assistance of SRP members, you or your husband may also want to consider purchasing a copy of Lynn Abrams' dvd, "World of Straight Razor Shaving." It has an entire chapter/section in there that provides instruction/coaching about str8 razor shaving. It is available here under the "Classifieds."
I got a copy of Lynn's dvd for Christmas and it helped me immensely in making the transition to str8 razor shaving.

We got the razor from vintagerazors.com. I spent a long time talking to the proprietor before making the purchase, and the blade did come professionally honed. He managed to cut both cheeks where he has slight dimples. Today he tried again and did better, but his neck looks pretty raw. I'm reading up on all of this and transferring info to him. Thanks for the response!

Dovo razor, Latherking hot foam machine, Rooney superbadger brush, and um... leather strop. I can't remember who by. The razor came pre-honed.
