The Great Badger Ripoff?

Hey I just got a bunch of stuff in the mail, including a little badger brush to replace my cheapie boar bristle brush. Much nicer! But, when shaking water out, the brush itself (the hairs) came loose from the handle. Like the whole brush section, in one clump. Looks like the glue or whatever it was holding the hairs in there came loose. See pics. Quality's not the best, but gives the idea. I will definitely be asking for a refund, but I want to know if I should maybe shop elsewhere. Is this a typical way for thes brushes to be assembled? I paid $35 for this thing. Was I ripped off? Or does this just happen sometimes with some brushes?
