Thanked: 1The Great Badger Ripoff?
Hey I just got a bunch of stuff in the mail, including a little badger brush to replace my cheapie boar bristle brush. Much nicer! But, when shaking water out, the brush itself (the hairs) came loose from the handle. Like the whole brush section, in one clump. Looks like the glue or whatever it was holding the hairs in there came loose. See pics. Quality's not the best, but gives the idea. I will definitely be asking for a refund, but I want to know if I should maybe shop elsewhere. Is this a typical way for thes brushes to be assembled? I paid $35 for this thing. Was I ripped off? Or does this just happen sometimes with some brushes?
Thanks!

I would get ahold of the vendor that you purchased it from. Im sure they will make it right. If not, contact Vulfix, they have excellent customer service.

Since your brush is "new", it is all but certain that you would be able to exchange it. However, it would be cheaper, easier and faster to glue it yourself. Perhaps you could ask for a partial refund for your trouble. I am unsure of the frequency but these issues occur from time to time, usually in the form of the brush shedding too much hair as opposed to losing the knot altogether but there is another example: http://straightrazorpalace.com/brush...mac-brush.html

I bought one under the same conditions...
I wanted a badger brush with a longer handle and I bought on online for about $30...
First use... the handle fell off! ****ed me off!!!
...but the brush was good.
I took a hot glue gun and put them back together.....
It's still my favorite badger brush + 2 years and counting......

The quality of the brush is not the fault of the vendor. Vulfix is a good brand and this one must have slipped through. Work with the vendor and ask for a replacement brush that they check before shipping or repair yourself w/ some water proof glue. When soaking the brush keep the knot out of the water and do not use boiling water to soak the brush in.

The Great Badger Ripoff?
Hello, Benjamin:
Joed's advice is sound and I go along with his thoughts. Vulfix is a good brand, and I think most of us have one or two in our shave den. I have two.
If you bought it from a reputable vendor, I don't see a problem with replacement. The vendor might suggest you send it directly to the manufacturer for replacement, which can be a long, drawn-out process. In that case, as Joed says, glue it together and proceed.
Good luck.
Regards,
Obie

BenjaminBarker,
That simply should not happen with a brand new shaving brush right out of the box, from a quality brush maker such as Vulfix...
I would definitely contact the vendor you purchased it from and request a replacement brush. What you described in your post is a manufacturer's quality control issue and any reputable vendor and/or manufacturer worth their salt will make it right. They would even probably pay for return shipping to them.
If they refuse to comply with your request, don't ever do business with either of them again."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Thanked: 1Well, I contacted the vendor, and they assured me, as some of you have, that this was unusual for a Vulfix brush and they are sending a replacement right away. So no worries there.
I mostly asked because I thought I'd done my research, and Vulfix seemed reputable, wanted to make sure I wasn't wrong.
Thanks all!
