    Cool newbie

Well, I am on my third day and so far so good. I seem to be having problems with my chin area and my neck. The hair on my neck grows in a difficult pattern. I am having to go from the outside area of my neck near my jaw line towards the inside, and that is rather difficult. Any tips, or suggestions. Also I am curious as to whether there is any SR's with a short handle, that seems to be my biggest problem.

    Drake1977,

    Good for you...

The difficulty you are experiencing with your neck and chin is common. The hair on your neck grows i all different directions.

Do you have a copy of Lynn Abrams' "World of Straight Razor Shaving" dvd? I would recommend that you get a copy. He has an entire segment devoted to shaving with a str8 razor and discusses these problem areas and how he deals with it.

    Take care...

Not yet. I am starting out with a cheap disposable Magic straight razor. I am currently looking at the Dovo line of Razors, but don't know what to look for. Not sure if I should get 5/8 or 6/8 half or full hollow.

Make sure in addition to your prep, your stretching your skin. When you get to your neck, tilt your head in the opposite direction, this too will help stretch your skin. Are you folding the handle of the razor when you shave, so it looks like an "L"?

    I have the same issue.

    1. Smiling blades are your friend.

    2. Invert the blade and scales for a nearly perfect horizontal angle. Review my shaving vid to see how.
