Thanked: 443Another factor to consider is what it's like to work with the different materials. There's a post in the Wiki about toxicity of different sawdusts. Epoxy dusts are no good either, and working bone or ivory on a belt sander makes a good runner up for the Smell of Death.
I got some very pretty 1/8" x 3 x 24 sheets of dark cherry, curly maple, and curly mahogany at Rockler; they've been user-friendly and easy to learn on.
Check out the Workshop threads; there's a ton of info there on materials, methods, finishes, etc.
Best wishes"These aren't the droids you're looking for." "These aren't the droids we're looking for." "He can go about his business." "You can go about your business."
