Default 1st shave with family heirloom

I got my Great Grandfather's razor from my father last summer. Then I had my brother-in-law refinish it. You may know him as gssixgun or Glen. I can't believe the way it came out. The scales and the finish are incredible but the shave was fantastic.

It came out better than I could have imagined. I still have to improve my technique around my jaw line but I am working on it. Glen if you read this thanks for the fantastic job you did in restoring my Great Grandfather's razor. My father who has made knives in the past was impressed.

I should have taken some pictures of the first shave with it but I forgot. So here are some pictures Glen took while restoring.

It still is amazing to shave with a razor my Great Grandfather used.

Whoever in your family married into Glen's family, thank them. Profusely.

Then go out and buy every vintage blade in decent condition you can, and have said member of his family pester him into fixing them.

I envy you, too, good Sir.

Also, those are some beautiful scales.

I married Glen's only sister. So I guess I have the corner on the market.

I will take your suggestion and keep looking for other vintage razors. I don't think 12 razors a year is too much do you?

Glen really did a wonderful job.

Glen's sister will have to answer that question..... Glen did do a great job but that is a given. Must be wonderful to shave with a razor that has a family history.

    Oh. Rub it in

12 a year? Give him 12 every few months >.> That'll keep him on his toes.

    colorado,

Congratualtions! Glen's rescaling also looks outstanding. Its nice that he was able to reuse the metal inlays on the new scales as well.

    Happy shaving!!!

Glen is one of the best restoration artists there is and using a family heirloom to shave with is a treat like no other. Congrats!
