First successfull all straight razor shave!
I finally got my first successful straight razor shave. I got my razor (an old Joseph Elliot) back from my barber after he did his magic and wow, what a difference. The thing actually cuts hair now and not just skin!
He repaired the cracked handle (scales?) and honed the blade (and refused to take any money). I brought it home and gave it a test drive. Was not pretty, but it did shave. After about three days of that I finally got to the point were I can actually shave my whole face without needing to resort to the DE to complete. And the best part. NO BLOOD
It's still not as close as the DE but it is by far less aggravating to my face and I'm sure that with practice the closeness will come.
I also have my super simplistic version of a shave den in the bathroom, wife calls it my 'Man Shelf' and she admits that it actually helps organize the bathroom and keeps the straight razors out of reach of inquisitive minds (and hands).

Beautifully ugly razor! Don't worry about the closeness of the shave, the learning curve is usually quite steep and enjoyable all the way.
Y'are a man now my son.
