Thread: WOW IM AN IDIOT!!!!

So I was having problems with razor burn and posted a cry for help the other day. After listing to the great advise here I tryied a two pass WTG pass after freshing up my dovo on a niwana 12k and then a few passes on my newly pasted crox strop. WOW what a differance I was able to get a close comforable shave with no razor burn! Out of all of the internet forums I visit this one is the best in my opinion yall are always very helpfull especially with the rookies like my self. Thanks a million!

Well, ya see, you've picked up that tip around the same I did...except I've been shaving with my Bismarck since last September, which certainly makes you alot less hard-headed as I am. I've been refreshing mine with crox until I decided to give a few strokes on the 8k naniwa a try. you're right...a couple strokes is all it takes to bring them right back.

Congrats. Be careful. Don't mistake a bad angle for a dull razor. Lot's of guys at first will hone and hone, and use pastes to death. I've seen it before. Anyway, It sounds like you got it done right. Now that blade should last you a good while, Invest in a barber hone, 3-5 passes prior to a shave and strop will keep that blade in tip top condition for 6 months plus, normally......Good for you..

yeah, yeah to various levels of perceived newbiness.. so many variables.. as long as your stropping is accurate (yes, re-aligning the blade is important) and your finishing stone is up to snuff then you're "all good".

I've had a great traditionally straight edge in a dovo 13/16 straight edge, and from there, as a reference point, had plenty to work from. From eBetray finds to just finishing the edges made from a professional or two, I've got it down. You're apparently on the right path. Good for you (your skin cells thank you for it!).

I can't pick a barber hone, don't know which one to work. Is there a good affordable one that someone can recommend?

hi_bud_gl and he gave me a list of good barber hones to look out for and the price(roughly) i ended getting a swaty and have been happy enjoy!
