Thanked: 77I just picked up a 'Smiggle' pencil case - zippable, hardish case.
Looks smart and fits my stuff.
Thought I might need to modify it, but it works really well.
Can fit razors in pen holder.
Barber hone can fit underneath.
Small brush, styptic pencil and small mirror in interior pocket.
My shaving cream is in a tub and I can always fit in a shave stick in small plastic bag.
(Might post pic if I get around to it, but here's link:Smiggle : Hardtop Pencil Case - I got a black one.
I don't have any connections with Smiggle - I'm a teacher and had noticed my students' pencil cases...)
All the best,

I use this as a travel box for all the stuff that is fragile or that could break. I just roll the razors/bottles/after-shaves etc. up in t-shirts first. It also works great as a small safety box if the hotel room doesn't have one. I just lock all my stuff in it and put it in my duffle bag and then I lock the bag as well. Nothing I have packed in this box has ever been damaged or broken.

Just for now I'm using a couple of the original cardboard boxes from vintage razors, but I'm seeking something better. I was looking at this
Civilian Lab Gear Pod --- Heinnie Haynes - Knives, Pocket Tools and Accessories
last night which would probably take 4 razors comfortably with a little cushioning material.
As regards strops, perhaps there's an opportunity for a leatherworker to produce a latigo belt that would double up...

Thanked: 30I just came back from a week long vacation. i used a leather sheath from classic for my Mergress(cost about $11),a small ziplock container for my Rooney 1/2 brush( $3 if that?) and bubble wrap for my W&B full hollow. And nothing got ruined at all.

Travel With Straights
Hello, everyone:
I travel with a roll-up Truefitt & Hill dopp kit (which, along with a small Tony Miller strop, I pack in my luggage and check). A neat strap in the center of the dopp kit keeps my razor and travel brush firmly tied and cushioned, so that I find no need for a razor travel tube.
The kit is pricey, yes, but the razor and brush strap is only one of the reasons for which I bought it.
Regards,
Obie

Traveling With Straights
MisterA:
That ammo can is an ingenious idea for a sturdy and an inexpensive travel dopp kit. I especially like it for its masculine and rustic charm. Well done, sir.
For me, the ammo can also brings back bittersweet memories of a war long ago.

Obie

classicshaving.com sells a handy little plastic cylinder that protects the brush for $1 or so. though you cna rig up something like on old pill bottle, too. I dont think damaging the strop is too much of an issue, but there's something to be said for a paddle strop for travelling. that TI one with the leather case is a beauty.

Traveling With Straights
Hello, Niftyshaving:
I know the ammo can is for blanks, but, for me, it still creates bittersweet memories. The same picture can create different memories for different people — which is going off topic in this thread. . .
Hello again, MisterA:
I am curious: with the ammo can dopp kit packed in your duffel bag and checked, does security ever question its presence in your bag? I don't see why they would, since they view the contents electronically, but you never know.
Regards,
Obie
