You don't need convincing, you just need practice!

I would say go for it, I got fed up with disposable razors to the point were I dreaded shaving, but once I started with SR's it all changed!

Its not easy to start with and like you I thought the same thing, is this really what I want? All I can say is it gets easier and better with every shave, but it is really all about practice and you will soon figure out how to hold the razor to suit your face profile, I even used to practice just with my hand or a pen to get a feel for what felt ok, but you will soon get used to holding a razor and before long it will all fit into place, its just something new and needs a lot of practice.

What worked for me was looking on here and you tube at vid's on people shaving and watched how they hold the razor on certain parts of their face and then tried their different methods until I felt comfortable holding and shaving with my razor.

One other bit of advice is to practice even more at Stropping, this was hard for me right from the word go! I bought a great SR from Lynn and I reckon I buggered the edge on it in no time stropping, but now I'm a little better not perfect but its getting to were it is a lot easier.

Good luck, Scott

p.s. If you ever feel uncomfortable (through nicking yourself) put the razor down and wait till the next time, it will eventually get to where you wont have to put it down!
