Thanked: 1Small Nicks in the Strop - Problem?
First, thanks again to all who helped with the hard-water lather problem. The lather is coming along nicely.
However -
I've been shaving for a little over a week and have just about gotten 75% of the dominant side - but in the process I've put a few small nicks in the strop. The are low on the strop, on the edge, the result of sliding the razor slightly when I roll on the back edge to make the return stroke. I think I've corrected the mechanics, but alas the evidence remains.
So, if I have a few nicks, how to handle them? Can I "rub" them out - or just avoid that part of the strop - making my strokes storter. Will the nicks damage the edge? How concerned should I be?
Thanks in Advance,
-Michael

I guess, it would depend how extensive the damage is. Unless it is unsalvageable, I would advice against shortening the strop. Perhaps this thread may be useful from you, the post from Tony Miller may be of particular use:

Hi, Michael. Welcome to SRP.
I would say both - try to avoid it if possible but try rubbing it with a pumice stone and you should be ok.

Michael,
Try wrapping some 600 grit silicon carbide paper around a pencil, and use that to smooth out the nicks; try and remove as little leather as possible
Have fun !

If they are small odds are they won't damage the edge. Mine has a few nicks that have been there for years and they don't effect a thing.
