Wow that is a prize!
Do give it a light coating of rust preventing oil.
In some ways the best way to preserve a razor
is to use it.

You guys are right - i compared my razor to your pic and the handles are exactly the same. Is this common? Do different manufacturers use common handles?
So is my next step to get it professionally sharpened?

PERSONALLY I would look into the Classifieds and get a starter razor already shave ready. Than learn on the starter just in case you drop the razor in the learning curve, I'd hate to drop an heirloom that way
Once your comfortable with the process than break out the heiloom and get it ready for use.
