Just got another nearly BBS shave with this same razor. It could really tell it started to dull about halfway through this shave and may have gotten my first nick. I used Mama Bear's soap, a nice VDH Badger brush and got a good lather going, finished up my neck with a 1908 Gillette DE, the "straight" was to dull to continue to my neck. Then finished it all of with a nice glass of wine.

I am getting my real straight sometime this weekend off of the SRP classifieds.

Welcome to SRP. I am very happy for you that you had such a positive experience with the razor you used. That should give you the determination you need to succeed with a true straight.

As others here have said, you landed in the best forum you could hope to imagine. It is not just the advice and encouragement, but there is a kind of sage-like maturity here that will help you grow faster and in the right direction.

Good luck and post a lot,
    David

I actually just picked up my first razor this morning and I am trying to identify it.
