    Default Neck Skin Stretching...

Just over one month using a straight and I have no problems shaving my face, chin and stache. However, the neck is still giving me a problem!

I just cannot get that close shave on my neck that I can on my face and I think it is due to not stretching the skin properly. The skin on my neck grows north to south and I do not have the multi directional hair growth on my neck that some have discussed.

My question is, is there a certain technique for stretching the skin on the neck? I just cannot seem to figure out how to stretch the skin on my neck while shaving and lather everywhere?? Any suggestions?

what works for me is this: tilt your head downward and place your off hand firmly over your collarbone, now tilt your head back, it stretches the skin of the neck very taut

I am definitely going to try this technique tonight when I shave. I just tried it a few times at the office and that seems to work well. I hope this helps....thanks for the advice!

I must say that I am very glad to hear that your skin grows north to south. I would be very worried about the use of a SR if that were not the case :-).

I have hair growing every which way so I'm still trying to figure this out on my neck...good luck.

I also pull the skin by holding my hand on my collar bone or on my chest. But I've never held my head down then raised it with my hand in place. I tried it just after reading your entry. Great advice! Thank you.

Pretty much what I do except I tilt my head back first and then stretch from the collar bone area. Six of one half a dozen of the other so do what works best for you.

Under my jaw my beard grows from adams apple to my ear. It is pretty tough angle to shave. To get this area I pull my skin up higher than my jawbone to my cheek area. Instead of being under my jaw now it is on the side of my cheek and easy to shave. If I open my mouth I even get a little bit more above the jaw line.

Usualy I don't put that much effort into my shaves. I don't always need BBS, I am perfectly happy with a DFS most days.

This morning I shaved my neck using the jakeinkalispell method for pulling my skin. My neck hasn't been that smooth since I was 12 and din't shave yet. Great advice, jakeinkalispell! Thank you.
