Ribs in tap water..hot/cold doesn't matter to me..wipe clean S-T-R-O-P 10+times on leather and canvas strop if u can..just my opinion though

Damp kleenex tissue > dry kleenex tissue > oil coating (if stored in humid location). Why kleenex? Well, to protect the mirror finish...remember paper is abrasive.

I think the area right around the pivot can collect some moisture, and cause some corrosion problems. I fold a tissue over and wipe between the scales a bit. Maybe a drop of mineral oil.
