I'd say hot water and a soft towel.

I use running hot water on the blade. Then wipe it dry.

I use cold running water, then wipe it dry meticulously. Then I do say two dozen passes on an English bridle strop, which may or may not dry the edge further, but definitely does deposit a film of oily stuff on it which acts as a corrosion inhibitor, I hope.

I normally rinse it off and wipe it dry with a towel. Then, I leave it out and open to air dry (I live alone so no danger of anyone being cut by it). Afterward I'll give it about 25 laps on my cotton strop and put it away until next time.

I've seen tissue recommended for wiping dry as opposed to a cotten towel ... as I understand it, the cotten is more abrasive, and if accidentally run across the cutting edge, it will adversely affect the blade. Also, recommend running the tissue between the scales, and consider blow-drying the blade, and (LIGHTLY) between the scales, and around the pivot pin. Careful not to over-heat the scales ... just get the blade warm enough to evaporate any water/dampness in crucial places. Then oil with Camelia Oil (see SRD for bottles of 4oz or 8oz) or sewing machine oil (less expensive and recommended by those with much more experience than I).

Thanked: 23Rinse with water (hot or cold, doesn't matter) wipe dry (tissue, towel, whatever), close, put in case, put case in drawer. Some like to coat the blade with a thin film of oil (mineral oil, vegetable oil, whatever), but I don't see the need.

I have been rinsing with hot water followed by gently drying it with a towel. I then follow that with extensive drying with a tissue and then leave the blade open to air dry while I get dressed. I then give it a quick 10 seconds under my bathroom heater, 10 light strokes on the canvas and then close it up and back in the rack.

I'm an odd one, I blow dry my razor dry, esp. the pivot.

I rinse it with warm water and wipe dry with some toilet paper, being very careful of the edge. Then I strop it 25 on the linen, 25 on the leather.
