no, it claims they are too flimsy, not too light, that's very different, in fact seems like the worst of both worlds.

    Default 1st Razor

For your 1st razor, my recommendation is to avoid heavy handles like bone - and especially ultra heavy handles like stainless. I also bought new since I also dislike the slight tarnish on most used razors, and having to watch the classifieds waiting for something I like to show up...

I'd get a Dovo Best Quality, Dovo Special, or Dovo Silver Steel (Ebony handle). All 3 are good performing shavers - so get the one you like the looks of best. I personally liked the 5/8 size for it's ability to fit into tight spaces (base of the nostrils + groove between the lower lip & chin), but many people like the 6/8.

There are probably more sites with that razor these are just a few from dealers I have dealt with before.

Personally, if I was going to spend $150+ I'd buy another Le Grelot Historical from Martin

I am real new to post here. i have been getting (after some perseverance and at times thinking what? its as close as a banana) the best closest and most comfortable shaves of my life and i have real thick dark beard i was ALWAYS irritated with a DE or a Cartridge razor i cant tell you why but after some nicks, me and strop (repaired them) some redness (pressing too hard) some patches of stubble (not sure but they vanished) i can honestly day THE best thing someone tole me from Taylors1000 was to make sure it was sharp and they are not sharp enough from DOVO so buy it shave ready so you can remember how it should be. The one i am using honed by my father is like a laser, it just pops em off at the root. Mine was like a lawn mower it cut them but a micorn or two higher. PLEASE persevere, if you get a bad nick or bad shaves just finish with a cheap BIC or somthing, it honestly gets better i read that comment over and over and it never sunk in, it is true, and when you are the other side its Fantastic old chap. I will never look back (unless i am flying to the US to see my Granny with a day sack, then i will have a BIC). Good luck

+1 to what JohnG10 said. I have a 5/8 DOVO Special that came shave-ready (honed By Lynn) from SRD. That is one sweet-shaving razor.

    sly,

As others noted that which fits the eye may not fit the hand, but you are the beholder so get what you think will fit your taste and face; if you really want the stainless/stainless - go for it. My favorite DOVO is the 6/8 Special with the fake turtle scales; I think it is really good looking and it shaves like a dream.

Off topic here: since you live in Moorhead can you tell me why that town across the river from you is called Fargo? Shouldn't it be named Closeby since it's only a hop, skip, and splash away?

Good luck on the razors and get something that has been professionally honed unless you want to get a bunch of hones and practice your hand in getting that smooth shaving edge on your new razor. If you take that route, best of luck traveling down that path as the trip is longer than the hop, skip, and splash across the river to Closeby, Nordakota. I know because I'm still hopping and skipping...

Is there a specific reason you want all stainless steel, or even a stainless blade?

I bought a Dovo Special from ClassicShaving about 2 months ago because I had a gift card to use.

I contacted them before and asked if the razor was shave ready. The said if it has "presharpened" in the title then yes. However, it was not shave ready and had to send it to a friend for honing.

I'm just sharing my experience, but SRD is the way to go. This way you can eliminate a huge problem of "is my razor sharp" It can really mess with you in the beginning if you are thinking this.
