I am afraid if Gugi started that thread it would be titled "How many newbies licked me?"

As a newbie I'll check in...

Just shy of two months down of exclusive use of a straight razor... only two good bloodings so far, figure I'm doing well.

Acquisitional disorder has set in pretty well... eight vintage straights, one professionally honed modern (Gold Dollar... very surprising as it has yielded some great shaves but I don't care for the round point). Two razors in the mail my way, both vintage. From my Gold Dollar experience (Rup honed) I'm planning on getting a modern blade or two to round out my collection at some point... too many good vintage blades available and too little time.

Two strops... one Rup Filly and one SRD Premium Long IV... both have proven their value many times over.
Multiple soaps and creams... thus-far Tabac and SRD Opus-X soaps have been my favorites. Both yield great shaves.
Thater badger brush which I got for a song... can't find it anywhere else now or I'd grab a second one.
Two vintage barber hones... just started doing the "touch up" honing... plotting my course into full blown honing....

Way I figure it... I've spent as much on shaving in the past two months as I would have on one good pen or a very lowball watch... so I'm actually saving money.

My Gillette Fusion and Mach3 are sitting unloved and corroding on the bathroom shelf... I certainly intend to keep them in time-out for the foreseeable future. I have no plans of returning to the world of dropping 5$ a week on blades for sub-par shaves.

I've been posting in and starting threads about straight razors and wet shaving in general on wristwatch, fountain pen and firearm/shooting forums I frequent... perhaps I'll lure another shaver or two to the dark side.... I hear we have cookies to offer.

You would learn that I have the power to make the poll say what I want it to say. But you should already know that.

I would like to go on the record now and state that I *HAVE NOT* licked Gugi. There have been discussions of dinner purchased by him and the "certain obligations" that would result as an after effect of accepting said dinner, but as of this time, my tongue has not graced the person of Gugi.

#1 city for searches was Denver, CO... no wonder there is jack squat in the antique stores these days. Sheesh! That or I am searching A LOT.
