some special thanks to this place + a few thoughts
Hai Guise
Well, it's been about 3 weeks that I'm into straight shaving now. It's been a really great pleasure and the longer I'm doing it the more I get to like it.
This place sure has helped me. It didn't encourage me to jump into it, I decided to do this due to various contemplations which I did not pick up here.
The greatest benefit I got from this place is the sheer amount of available information. And all the guys here are really, really nice.
However, during the last week, I came to notice some things about the suggested hints and tipps: They all vary. It's really a "figure out what works best for you" thing. That's were SRP kicks in: a lot of inspiration on what things I could try out and stuff.
Small Example: I've been reading the "beard prep rule" a lot around the internet, i.e. either shower or put a hot towel on your face for several minutes... In the end, I figured out that this does not work for me, I really need to do both. Shower, and then put a hot towel on my face. Even though I'm in my mid twenties, my beard only really grows around my chin and upper lip and a few hairs on the sideburns/neck. So it's mainly the hardest parts I have to take care of.
Probably the coolest aspect of this community I have noted is, that all people here come from the most different walks of life. Each with his own beliefs, at his own age, own profession, opinions etc, all united by the man's need to shave. And I think that's great!
Even though I think that I am now "proficient" enough to continue to figure out things completely on my own, I will continue to stick around this place ;-)
So, many thanks to everyone who's helped me, everyone who contributes to keep this community together, and of course Lynn, for having founded it.Last edited by shiznix; 08-25-2010 at 03:19 PM. Reason: grammer mistaek
