Thanked: 0Little Frustrated
Hey guys, I have been SR shaving for about 3.5 weeks now and still drawing blood on my neck. It's really hard to get it smooth because it grows sideways. It feels like my blade only cuts when I put little pressure, when I apply no pressure, it begins to pull. I'm using a Le Grelot 6/8 right, full hollow. Think I need to go down to a quarter hollow or so? I'm not going to give this up!
Also, after I'm done, I noticed some water stains on the razor, any way I can get rid of those?

i love this when i read.
Be patient.
Now about water spots dry blade very good and some water people calls"heavy one"you have to take special care of your blade.
About your blade.
i don't think grind has anything to do with your problem.
Get your blade honed by pro's and learn how to use it.
proper honed blade will not need pressure to cut.
hope this helps.

Thanked: 0I dry the blade well after use and apply camelia oil afterwards. I think I have pretty heavy water here in florida. Maybe a water softener is in due just to keep my blades looking pretty =).

Maas would sort out the water spots, careful not to go near the edge. Like hi_bud, I see no reason to change razor.

Thanked: 9Yes, less is more. Rub it on your canvas stop. You don't want to fill the web, just coat it. If that doesn't work, then a bit of honing is in order. A razor should not tug or pull if correctly sharpened. Do you do 20-30 strop laps before shaving?

Thanked: 0Yes sir, it cuts well when starting on my cheeks, but get uncomfortable on my neck and upper lip. I tried adjusting my angles, but still get nicks. Some days are better than others, need to keep refining my technique.

Thanked: 0Ahhh ha. I had a feeling that was happening when I was looking at my straight razor today. I cleaned the inside by folding a small paper towel and ran it through. I'll have to keep an eye out for that in the future.

After drying and before putting oil on the blade a little rubbing alcohol can help to seep any water in the blade out. Just put some on a piece of tissue paper or TP rub blade and scale down. Let it dry a bit then oil like normal. Stropping after shaveing also helps as it heats the blade some.
