I've gotten now to the point that I was with the DE. I shave around the mole, then gently over and no nicks. It takes some finess and a light touch to shave a mole without cutting it. Practice makes perfect!

Right when I started straights, I almost removed one cleaving it about halfway through. Ahhh!

    Default "NewSkin"

"NewSkin Liquid Band-aid" works on small cuts. It's
antiseptic, it works sorta like superglue, and it leaves
a protective "cover" on the wound. But....

It also stings like crazy when applied, and I wouldn't
recommend it for any "large" wound.

    Default NewSkin addendum

I should have specified that NewSkin is "mildly"
antiseptic. Any wound has to be clean before applying
any sort of dressing, or there is a risk of infection.
That would be especially true if the wound is "sealed",
as it would be with NewSkin.

When I worked in the emergency room, the standard
procedure for treating an incision (like a razor cut) was
to irrigate the wound with a solution of Betadine, dry it
with sterile 4x4's, then butterfly bandage/sutures,
and cover with a sterile dressing.

    That's the "heavy-duty" version...

A possible indication of how "bad" the cut is, is how
much it is bleeding. If the bleeding is controlled by
direct pressure, more or less right away, then Lynn's
suggested application of a triple-antibiotic ointment
is probably enough. If there is prolonged bleeding,
I'd certainly give serious consideration to a trip to
the ER or your own MD.

I've twice cut my right cheek up pretty badly with the oh-so-sharp spike point of my 6/8 Wellington. I've typically shaved around the cut until it has healed, but last time I shaved right over it and opened it up again. It still hasn't fully healed. Nicks aren't much trouble for me, as I only shave every two to three days, so I just shave right over them.

    Best of luck to you.

    Larry
