Thread: Shaving after cuts

I was just wondering how everyone shaves a spot where they cut themselves on the previous shave? Do you guys just shave in the same spot taking extra care in that area?

Last time I shaved, I got a cut that hasn't fully healed yet. I can tell there is a slight change in surface level where my cut is. Would it be safe to shave over that spot? I don't want to recut myself and have a greater chance for a scar.

If it is a nice gash, I would avoid that area at least until the cut heals and the scab falls off. If it is a little, tiny nick, I wouldn't worry about it and I would shave right over it the next time.

Since I started, I have had one really nasty cut right below my eye. I just got careless and the razor sunk right into my cheek. I still have no idea how it happened, but it definitely left a scar.

Normally, the skin around a nick or little cut will raise. I use a little triple antibiotic on these and it helps them heal quicker. When shaving I try to either go over them very lightly or shave around them best as I can. If you put any pressure on these spots, you will feel it and it does usually make it take a little longer to heal.

No, actually I don't and that is why I said I have no idea how it happened.

Shaving cuts? What are those?-har har.

That must be quite the skin stretching technique you have there.

Fortunately, I have only ever cut earlobes - once each. So no problem avoiding those.

But I found early on that rotating my razors was good for me because each time I shaved it was like using that razor for the first time and I am more careful with it. I find familiarity breeds sloppiness. :-)

I try to wait a few days and if the cut wasn't too bad, you should be ok...I wouldn't shave a healing cut, as it would only open it up again. If you got a Chinese grocery store in your area, you can get some PearlPowder, it's great for healing scars and smoothing them out...
