I've never really counted, but I think a well honed and well treated razor should give over twenty good shaves. Most of those should be excellent and you might even be able to stretch that further depending on how tolerant you are of a dulling razor.

I answered 10-20. On the one hand, I'm gratified that so many other users are getting about the same results. On the other hand, I'm motivated by those who are getting a much longer edge-life. My long-term goal is to hone well enough, and strop well enough, to get that 2-3 months of edge-life out of a daily-use razor.
That said, I can stop and smell the roses: I still can't believe I honed the thing well enough to get a couple of weeks out of it. Whoo-hoo!

Thanked: 2I voted 5-10 but it may be 10-15 I just had to touch up tonight after about a month every other day shaving.

After about 15 shaves, my Taylors (carbon) still shaves well, but leaves my skin irritated. It could also be b/c I have sensitive skin. If I didn't, I'd probably be able to get away with 20 or so.

Thanked: 28The only reason I can think of as to why some members get less shaves per hone is maybe their razors aren't as sharp as they think they are!

Most of my razors last about 15. I usually don't let them go that long and use a barber hone after every 10 shaves (4 passes with lather). I go back and actually hone them about every 6 months.
