Thanked: 0Very Uncomfortable
I've been practicing shaving with a straight edge for two months now, I get a very good and comfortable shave on my cheeks, sideburns, below my sidburns, jawline, and my neck. However, it is very uncomfortable on my chin and mustache, I've only been able to complete the shave once in those areas. I use the badger brush, and a feather straight edge with the replaceable blades. I use the porasso shaving lather and save the beard and mustache for last, but I keep applying the lather in the hope that it would soften that area up. I've tried going XTG and WTG and it feels like I'm tearing the skin off, luckily no cuts in that area yet. In the non-problem areas I can even shave ATG and it feels great. Does anyone have advice on how to overcome this?

Maybe this guys technique is a good example of using the center of the blade.

I know I have been bitten by the spike and this might be a good way to learn to use the center of the blade.

have you tried pulling your nose to the side as much as you can and then lightly cutting the hair XTG?

I also have a very heavy beard and I noticed that starting with my chin helps alot (thickest part of my facial hair). I could probably strop mid shave, but that's a pain in the butt as I am still slow at it.
Still need to work on my technique though, so I am not saying I know alot. Just seems to help.
