    Default Please State Your Budget

There are many posts by new guys asking for equipment recommendations with "I'm on a tight budget" at the end.

It would be very helpful to the SRP members trying to help if they would state their budget with the request for help.

I have seen "on a tight budget" mean $20 to $200. Or we get finished helping somebody put together a set for $75, and they turn around and buy a set for $220. If we had known the real budget we would have made different suggestions.

Please help us to help you.

    Thanks,
    David

    What's a budget?

As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Or heaven, depending on your point of view.....

That's a good idea! Some of the computer sites will have set ups like that.

    Cheap-O Setup $50
    Bargain Setup $125
    Bang for Buck Setup $200
    Sky's the Limit Setup $600

And then list out all the equipment? Might be cool.

The problem with the budget thing is beauty...beautiful razors, strops and brushes...and....and....the killer one H-O-N-E-S!

I think a lot of us started that way. No way I would pay a $100 for a brush, NO F....N way would I pay $200 for a razor....NO....NO..... I won't! Then she becomes available. A razor that is just a few dollars more catches our eye! I am toast!

You weak S..t! Then the next time you buy a razor you see one that is a tad over $200, what the hey, the last razor that I bought for was $200....just look at those lines...WOW!

    Take Care,
    Richard

My budget for razors seems to grow and grow and grow. I never thought I'd pay over $100 for a razor then it became $150 then $200 then $300 now I have spent $300 on more then a few razors ....

My first setup was a $80 Dove "Best Quality", $35 Illinois Strop and a $20 antique store Swaty barber hone. This would have done just fine .................................until the AD's kicked in!!

Lots of good comments and ideas.

All I am really asking is for someone to say:

"I'm interested in getting started and I have $60 to spend" or whatever they have. That would be great.

I don't think it needs to be any more complicated than that.
