Glen mentioned earlier "Saddle Soap" or Leather Cleaner, either should work in helping you remove the green paste. If it's very dry after, You can use Neetsfoot oil to condition it...BE CAREFUL...Too much oil will ruin your strop. This is where lot's of guys make mistakes. Start with a nice clean cloth, apply the oil sparingly to the cloth, then rub into the strop...

Used my wifes "Duberry" boot leather cream cleaner on it and it seems to have got rid of 95% of the paste, then i applyed cream conditioner to "rehydrate" it. Looks a lot better now.
She's a bit ****ed since her small tubs of cleaner/conditioner cost a small fortune but perks of being married i say.

I'll post some photos of it tomorrow and ask your opinions gents as to whether it's saved or not.

Another cause of my mediocer shave could have been the shaving cream/gel i used (king of shaves gel) as my face kept on drying up during the shave, i've ordered proper cream now so hopefully that'll sort that out.

Again thanks all for your help.
