My Shavette was ok....... I was too stubborn to go back to the Mach3. As with a straight razor the more shaves you do with a Shavette the better. I always had a bit of irritation from the Shavette though. Transitioning to a straight seemed to go pretty well. I have not had ALL of the problems that alot of beginners have. With that being said, I have had my share of nicks, bumps and burns from my Straight but it is getting better everyday and I have not had gashes, tons of nicks etc. Just one or two here or there. Mostly I have had good luck with a straight but I go slooooow and easy.

I've shaved about 4 times with my new, unhoned straight. I wanted to practice stropping and thus risk ruining the edge before it was honed as opposed to after. Then once i practiced stropping, I was too excited not to shave with it. After 4 shaves, I've worked myself up to a single wtg pass on my whole face. I've never had worse razor burn in my life but I've loved every minute of it. In fact, in a few minutes i'm going to go shower and shave with it one last time before i send it off to be honed.
