    I understand the budget issues.

But you will also need a strop and a brush and soap. You can use a small dish for a scuttle ( i use one from Pottery Barn!)

I might suggest that you set aside a little bit for a few months until you have enough for all of it....you can get the poor mans strop (see website) and good inexpensive soaps from SRD

Hang in there....but last thing you want is a razor and none of the other stuff.....won't help you.

you'll earn it all back by year end by not buying Mach 3 blades!

OK let me try and explain once again, many of the vendors here keep Budget Razors ready to go

Vendors Corner - Straight Razor Place Forums

There are 3 ads that I can think of right now running...

All of the vendors sell Shave Ready razors ...

Anyone that has a link to a "Good Razor" for under $20 ain't sharing it

You already threw away good money on a Krieger, now your looking at a GD or DA... So let me be less subtle GO LOOK AT THE VENDORS SECTION OR THE CLASSIFIEDS AND GET A SHAVE READY RAZOR !!!!!
And stop looking at e-bay until you don't have to ask what to buy...

Pony up and spend a few more bucks to get a nice Straight Razor that wont' leave you feeling disappointed after your shave. "You get what you pay for" is especially true when finding a nice straight. Beside, I don't even think you can get a pack of Mach ? (however many blades those things have now), razor blades for less than $20 bucks.

Spend a bit more cheese on a quality razor, you wont' regret it.

The classifieds have a few razors that are currently listed for 30-40 dollars. I think it's on the third or fourth page.

As has already been said, your basic problem is you are asking for a honed razor for the basic price of honing.

However, I have numbers of razors with serious flaws, but not flaws affecting the actual shave, that I would hone and mail you free if you are interested. They are definitely ugly ducklings, but will shave as well as more expensive razors. For example, I have a razor with brittle scales. One side is cracked, and I'm going to fix with epoxy glue. But, it is likely to crack again. Worst case, duct tape the scales and don't close the blade. I have had blades that were rusted to worthlessness at the top of the blade, but the cutting edge is fine. You get the idea.

If interested, email me at LarryAndro@GMail.com or PM me here.

For the strop, (I have the badger brush and shaving soap) can i make it from any piece of raw leather? Or does it have to be treated with some chemicals or something? (I know i'm in razor section but i guess it'll be more easy to just continue with this thread)
