Need Some Help...
I have not been able to figure out stropping quite yet. I missed, somehow, that you are supposed to grease the strop? In addition, I think I have dulled my razor because after my first shave, the following ones were obviously not picking up hair like they should have. I'm thinking of posting a video of how I shave and then asking for corrections from people with more experience? Does that sound like a good idea? I'll list as quick as possible my routine below as follows,
1. I strop the razor on the dry (now I know I have to get grease, I think) strop.
2. I heat up a rag with hot water under the faucet and pat down my face for a few minutes to open the pores.
3. I get out my brush and use a good locally made organic soap (purchased from New Seasons in Portland, OR) and then work a good thick lather and cake it on my face.
4. I wet the razor with hot water.
5. I begin on one side of the face with a downward motion working toward the middle of the face.
After that, I don't get very far and I think my razor have dulled...
Please give me advice on anything on here.
Thank you.

Thanked: 1263From your list it sounds as though you're doing everything pretty much how you should be. First..what type of strop do you have? If its new you shouldn't have to "grease" it or condition it at first depending on the type.
Make sure on your technique such as razor angle. It might not be the razor it might be just you and your technique hasnt developed yet

The video from hi_bud_gl is probably the best I have ever seen
It helped me get out of a very serious stropping slump I had
Have fun !

IMHO Your need advice from someone closer
Maybe theres some one on this site who lives close enough to you, driving distance wise, that could get together with you and shorten the learning curve for you???? Just one of my insperational thoughts, or more likely a desperate attemp to get attention at the crack ass of dawn, but which ever its a thought, thanks for reading it!!
