Thanks guys. I thought it didn't do any damage, but wanted to make sure. So every time I notice the edge lift, I should add another pass to make up for the 'missed' pass.

You're on the right track now. If your routine is quiet enough pay attention to how each pass sounds. It'll vary from razor to razor and strop to strop, but each pass ought to sound the same...at least that's what I do. It's easier for me to "hear" when something goes wrong than to see or feel it while it's happening.

Don't believe these guys.
If that edge pops up even for a microsecond it causes a chain reaction on the sub atomic level in the edge metal and that razor is ruined forever.Why it will crumble the first time you use it.
