Thanked: 114Travelling with brushes
Hello everyone,
I was wondering how folks package their brushes for travelling to ensure they don’t get mangled?
Thanks for the help.

Thanked: 1195Personally, I'm not too fussy. I pack it in my shaving kit loose along with my other products, though preferrably against the side of my travel bag. Even if the bristles get a little messed up in transit, once you soak your brush they will just pop back into place.
But then again, I'm not talking about travelling with a $200+ Simpson. Those folks may consider some form of travel case.

Thanked: 993I kept the nice little box that one of my brushes came in. It's durable and thick, and works like a charm.

I use an empty toilet paper roll tube. The brush slides perfectly inside and protects it.

I use a J. E. travel brush. Works like a charm.

I bought some 3X4" plastic bags (ziploc style) to put clipper blades in. You can buy a 1,000 for a few bucks and they come in handy for all sorts of things.
...one of which is putting your brush in for travel. I wouldn't leave it in there for a long time, but it keeps the bristles from getting mangled, and keeps everything else in the grooming bag dry. Once I get where I'm going I set it back out to dry.

Thanked: 7On advice from a member on another forum, I went to Wal-Mart and asked the pharmacy guy for some big pill bottles. I poked a couple holes in the top in case the brush was a bit damp and taped it shut and they've safely traveled the globe a few times already.
Best of all, they were free. You could be a little fancier and get some PVC from Home Depot or Lowes and build something with a screw on cap but I would be nervous getting that through security at the airport.

++1 on the previous advice. You can always improvise and make out quite well when traveling with a shaving brush. They are pretty rugged pieces of shaving equipment. The main thing is to let the brush dry completely when you return home to prevent deterioriation of the knot.
There is an online vendor who sells plastic travel/storge tubes for shaving brushes for $1.50 apiece, I believe. I have about a 1/2 dozen to store my brushes in.
If you want the name/url of the vendor, just PM me."Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Mark Twain

Traveling with brushes
Gentlemen:
I have a small Edwin Jagger traveling brush that nicely tucks away in its dedicated tube and then is strapped tightly into my roll-up wet pack along with two 4/8" straight razors, which also are strapped. Works like a charm.

Obie

Or you could get a travel exclusive brush. I love this one and it is small enough to dry before I have to pack it away.
