Thanked: 22 shaves in
And one nicked earlobe... .
So I've been shaving just my sideburns and cheeks, using an injector to finish up the rest.
The biggest surprise to me so far is how much my hands get in the way, and how much I like the whole experience.

Smart shaving just the "easy" portions of your face to start. If your hands seem to be getting in the way try using both hands. Right hand for right side and left hand for left side. Take your time, go slow, and I think you'll find switching hands is a big help, and I'm not ambidextrous by any means.
Oh, yeah. A lot of cuts come from "resting" the blade on your face. If the blade stops all it takes is a very small movement to the side to cut yourself. Keep the blade moving and lift it off your face at the end of the stroke.

I must be a slow learner. It took me 70 shaves to get my earlobe, but I got it pretty good. People have been asking me if I plan on getting my ear pierced.

Thanked: 20Congratulations on your ear-lop. I have done it a couple times it comes with the learning curve. What did you cut it with?

Thanked: 20It usually occurs when you are using a square point razor. The reason why is because the shaver is more focused on what they are doing on the cheek or neck and loose focused of the toe of the razor. At that point the ear lobe is opened up in fall swoop. That's is why many new straight shavers may mute the toe of a square point.

Usually if you are shaving on your neck going S-N you can get your earlobe real easy and of course when you are doing the off side of your face often times you can't see your ear as you shave so that makes an ear nick easy too. Using a spike or square point will make any shaving more challenging until you get used to them. Eventually you develop feel so you don't actually have to see what you are doing in tight situations.
