Default Separation Anxiety - Treatment Needed

So I sent my razors off to be honed. I had a lot to do and frankly didn't need the distraction of having them around begging me to play with them. I still have plenty to do...but not as much as before and I'm going through some serious razor withdrawl/separation anxiety.

Anybody else experience this? Is this the first sign of RAD? I did stop by an antique shop this afternoon with hunting for razors in mind...
    it was closed.

This will probably only happen to you once.......next time you'll be ready with reinforcements.

Are you kidding me? Waiting for that first razor to arrive in the mail was the longest week of my life. I honestly thought I was developing OCD, I checked my mail box like 5 times a day!

Good luck with your own compulsion

It's been over two! But to be fair, I sent off 3 razors in need of more than just a quick sharpening. But I was packing up the house and moving the family to a new state. Now I'm moved! Sure the wife wants me to unpack all these boxes , but that doesn't stop me from missing my razors.

To the grand honemiester out there who has my razors: Please don't interpret this thread as a lack of gratitude for your fine work.

Next time I definitely won't send them ALL off!

Maybe you could distract yourself with some Styptic pencil practicing for when those really sharp blades come back?

It was for emergencies such as this that I purchased a very nice DE (Merkur Classic 1904). While it's not exactly like shaving w/ a straight, it's still far better than having to fall back to a Mach 3

I'll have to admit, I was stunned when you said you'd sent them ALL off. It evoked the same emotion that I get when I open the pantry and realize that I've run through all of the Easter M&M's and my next "fix" won't come until the Halloween ones hit the stores. (SWMBO refuses to pay regular price and gets the seasonal mega bags the day after the holiday).

I know the feeling bro I keep mine honed myself on a barber hone but I only get to break out my straight (yess i only have one) ever week or so generaly every saturday morning Because i only have some stuble and a woping 10 real whiskers to keep cut off. Its like a drug as soon as you get a tast of it you want it every day.

What I developed at that point was honing anxiety. Once I had the blades solidly shaving wonderfully I would typically spend such an insignificantly small time on the hones actually touching up the edges that I felt like I didn't have the "feel" of the strokes until after I'd been doing it for multiple minutes (at the very least). Can't get into ANY groove with a touch up. I mean, seriously, it's like, 5-20 laps on a finisher, right?
