Thanked: 0Had my first straight shave yesterday...
... and I can simply put it in one word: AWESOME.
Few weeks ago I got my first straight razor G&P Gotta 6/8, but I had to wait to strop to arrive.
The shave went great, lathered with Nivea cream and slowly made my first stroke. I had to make few strokes to find correct angle and the razor just went through whiskers like there was none of them, just a slight resistance and the song from full hollow blade. What an amazing feeling.
I made one pass WTG on right and left cheek and on the neck - no any kind of weepers, irritation or razor burn.
Mustache and chin area I left to my DE because I didn't want to risk ruining an excellent first shave experience.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like all is off to a great start. You were wise, indeed, to not try and tackle your moustache and chin areas on your first go round.

Good job, amigo! Smart idea not tackling the chin or mustache area on the first go-around. It's the toughest part! Just take it slow, and you will improve with each shave!
Welcome to the club!

Thanked: 0I finished my 10th SR shave. Now I can make WTG pass everywhere with no problems, under the chin is still little tricky, but overall I can get pretty good DFS shave with absolutely no irritation or razor burn. Next shave I'll try to make XTG pass after WTG. Btw, in these 10 shaves I have not nicked myself or lost any drop of blood

Awesome job Sven. You're about a week ahead of me on the SR shaves, but I've been doing three pass WTG, XTG, XTG shaves from the start. I maintain a Van Dyke so don't have to worry about chin or lip issues. An XTG pass from chin to ear with the jawline edge of the blade leading (Heel the way I hold it) cuts a really smooth. Just be careful as you reach the earlobe...they may be useless, but no sense cutting them off!

Thanked: 0OK, I've been doing WTG+XTG pass shaves last 7 days and today was my best straight shave so far. I got very close DFS, no alum sting, no irritation, no blood.
17 straight shaves so far and still no any nick/cut/weeper
