I wipe the blade on the dry towel or washcloth, no need to invite dings or rust to my razor.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

Thanked: 1185This is exactly how I do it. Aside from avoiding razor/fawcet interface, it also minimizes the blade's exposure to water. You're removing the lather by wiping the razor on a damp sponge and not running water over the top of it. Additionally, it's kind of a passive way to monitor the razor's edge as you can see the stubble in the lather after it has been wiped on the sponge. First pass, lots of stubble in the lather, good edge. When the shave is done, simply wipe off the razor with a towel and give it a couple laps on the strop. Eventually your sponge will be cut up; not to worry, at that point throw it away and pull out a fresh sponge (you can get 3 of them for a couple bucks and change.) It really does work quite nicely.

Some good suggestions. I appreciate the sympathy. I figured I probably wasn't alone with this type of thing. I will probably end up buying another razor tonight at work lol. If I do sent to SRD or the like, it will be a couple weeks.
Thought about buying a hone since I was foolish and bought a razor on ebay (cheap luckily) that ended up being junk. Well the scales anyway. So I could practice on that for sure, we'll see. It will be a razor for now.
