It happened already....
Four shaves in and it happened.....the dreaded razor against the faucet . I was just doing a couple clean up spots too.
I was hoping to at least get through a couple weeks before I did something stupid. *sigh* Hopefully my buddy has the time\desire to get his honing stones out again and fix it for me.

That's part of the fun of learning, making mistakes. Doubtful you'll do that again. Don't worry about "doing something stupid". You'll do lots of stupid things, lol. Ok I've done lots of stupid stuff.
I know many keep the water running to rinse; I prefer to fill the basin and swish the blade spine side down to rinse.
My routine...fill basin with hot water, soak brush, scuttle and lather bowl as I shower. Remove items from basin and leave the sink with the warm water till end of shave.
The standing water works fine for me to rinse soap from the blade edge. I tend to get water on the pivot if I rinse over running water, so this stops me from my clumsiness there too. Plus I get to feel pompus that I saved a gallon of running water from going down the drain, lol

I think at some point in time, every member here has done something stupid as you put it, pause for a moment of silent reflection, but now you have a lesson learned. Your "accident" could in fact be a gateway to more razors, aka RAD. If you mess up one razor and need to have it hone, surely you'll need a second or third razor to shave with while the first is in the shop. Shaving with a straight razor is a journey to be enjoyed, from the successful BBS to the occasional accident. Live, learn, and lather.

To show sympathy with your plight, I'm going to slam my blade into the faucet this morning. Heck, I might even nick myself a couple of times to boot.

Thanked: 220It's better that you got this over with now instead of in a couple of weeks! When I do something like that I feel as if I should have known better, although it happens to the best of us. A while back I dropped a 7/8 Theirs Issard on the edge of the sink while I was oiling the blade. What's done is done, right?
