Best Razor(s) in your Collection?
Such a subjective question I know....BUT...if you have RAD (which I do...lol) then you might have more than a few str8's on hand. Of those, which is/are your best in your assessment? Me?...I seem to have scored some good Wade and Butchers, some good Walds and a good Wostenholm along with the Solingen I purchased from SRP. Some of the others are still up for judgement but I had a neat little surprise too. I purchased a str8 from "Dixie Manufacturing Company" out of Atlanta (I think)...kind of basic, hollow grind, looks like 5/8, round point with faux wood scales made out of plastic...at first glance my thoughts were "nothing special to this one" but the thing took a brutally sharp edge, strops nice and shaves like a champ...right up there with my WB's, Walds, Wostenholm and Solingen. This is a "for fun" question...not meant to generate anything more than a thread...so have fun with it and happy shaves. T'chau...

Thanked: 983It's a hard question to answer for me, as I love all my razors equally, However if I had to pick, say three razors and throw the rest into the deepest shark infested shipping channel out to sea, or face a firing squad if I didn't, then as tempting as a firing squad would be, living to shave another day and learning how to deep sea dive would be better. So I would pick, in no particular order of preference. My Bengall 6/8 restored by Oz, My OCD 8/8 and my Wosty pipe 13/16. I would then be taking dive lessons to recover my very first razor, a Dovo iMoP 5/8, as well as my Timor 5/8, Gotta 120 6/8, my Rolls and my Merkur DE. Yes I know I could replace many of those easily enough, but that wouldn't be the point.

I agree with Mick, a hard one to answer!
I guess if I had to pick three they would be my Iwasaki Kamisori that my fiancé got me, my limited edition 15/16 Wacker (one of only 16 made) and my DD Satinedge just because I love the look of DD's and it's a great shaver.
The others I could replace I guess, but I wouldn't want to have to because I love them all!

Thanked: 1936To be quite honest, any razor that isn't on the "do not buy" list. As long as it's honed "right". Sometimes it takes a few goes at the stones to find which finisher a particular razor "likes", but when you do get it you know it. Secondly, any new razor with the more modern steels like O-1 or 1095 does seem to hold an edge longer...but these two steels are all I have experience with to date.

I have three Le Grelot razors in my collection. These are by far my favorite razors. So much so that I sold everything else but them.
But my favorite out of them is my ivory scaled oneShaving_story on Instagram

In fact it is hard to choose one. There is couple very nice old Brands out there.Basically if blade shaves without my face feeling pulling etc i am happy with it.Of course it should keep the edge at least 3 months.

Thanked: 983Hey Don,
It's the spice to my variety mate. As a Polish mate of mine once said, "Spice is a variety of Wifes". His english wasn't too good at that time, but the phrase has followed him now for years. I like the Rolls because it is the most different razor in the collection. Thanks again for that one.

As with most people, it's pretty hard to pick just one. But if I have to, I suppose it would be my Beau Brummel Werks 35. This is my most consistant straight from shave to shave.
