Welcome Kris, Sorry, I can't help with Chicago, other than I went to Boot Camp at Great Lakes in Nov, Dec, and Jan 86 and I remember the wind chill being 40 below zero. I have to do most of my shopping online because there's nothing in Jacksonville. SRD, Classic Shaving, and Vintagebladesllc to name a few online vendors. Best of luck to you, and maybe one of our members from Chi town will chime in. You can check the member map as well....Good luck to you...

    Hello, Kris:

Welcome to Straight Razor Place. I live up in the Milwaukee area.

Truefitt & Hill has a shop on north Michigan Ave. in the Bloomingdale mall. I stop in every time I come down to Chicago.

Truefitt & Hill soaps, creams, aftershaves and colognes are top shelf. The shop combines product sales with a barbershop, where you can get a straight shave.

Also, don't forget the many vendors listed at SRP. They, too, have all the products you need.

    Regards,

    Obie

    Hello, OsbornCox:

Thanks for your note. In order to maintain the thread's initial focus on Chicago, please send me a personal message and I'll pass on what I know about places in the Milwaukee area.

    Regards,

    Obie

Depending on your area, i can let you know where some antique stores are that I've had some luck. PM me if you're interested.

In Chicago you could also look up Merz Apothecary and Andre's Barber shop for soaps/creams/AS. The former has a pretty good selection and the latter is starting to build up his wet shaving supplies.

As for straights, I have been to quite a few antique stores and could let you know which ones have straights in them that you could take a look at.
