    Lightbulb Night and Day

So if you had read any of my posts I was lacking in the paitents department and started shaving with my 2 striaght razors after honing on a Barbers stone and trying to strop them. I was pretty pleased with the results 7 shaves in. Outside of a minor nic here and there and a touch of razor burn I felt I was getting the hang of it with no significant blood loss.

Last night I had MAXI hone both my razors for me. This morning I just needed a touch up so did a quick (as quick as a newb can be) WTG. WOW is all I can say. Such a huge difference. The razor just glided so smooth and effortlessly accross my mug. So smooth in fact, my first reaction was it was not doing anything. Then I looked at the smooth patch down my cheek and realized OMG this is what it is supposed to feel like.

Not sure how anyone can go a few days without shaving when it feels this good. I kinda wish I was one fo those people that needed to shave twice a day right now.

Huge props to Maxi for the job he did and time he spent teaching me so much about the maintenance and techniques.

I had a very similar experience. I tried shaving with a brand new "shave ready" Dovo from Col. Conk and nearly tore my face clean-off. After thinking I got it plenty sharp with 20 or so passes on a Chinese Natural, I tried again. Slightly better, but I figured it was as good as it would get. Then I hear everyone talking about how awesome their shaves are, and I figured I must have done something wrong. Thus, I sent it to Utopian to be properly honed up.

When I got it bad, I was amazed at how sharp it actually needed to be. He definitely set the bar high when I do touch-ups on it. After meeting him IRL recently, I also learned I had the WORST honing technique, so it gave me something else to work on.

Those shaving vets sure know how to set the bar high.

    DY,

Glad you had a good time, and that you're razors are performing. Only a month to the Toronto Meet....get some ebay'ers and we'll practice honing them up together.
