Thanked: 1Hello All!
Some of you may recognize my nickname from the other forum. I'm going through withdrawal pains from the upgrade in progress over there, so I thought I'd register here too! After 4 attempts prior, I am finally getting the hang of shaving with a straight razor. I've been restoring them for a while, but could never get a great shave. I guess it's kind of odd that I'm fairly decent at restoring and honing (I've sold a bunch with good feedback on their shave quality), but have only been successful at shaving with them for a couple weeks now.
Two weeks ago, a member over at B&B graciously let me borrow two of his straights for me to try different grinds, and I've got to credit him for reviving my interest.
Anyway, don't have any questions, just wanted to say hi! Back to restoring the Klauberg I just received...

Welcome Drewmac . Seems the new style of the "other" forum is having technical difficulties . I've been hanging out over here and like you , recently switched to straights . Keep at it , it will only get better ! If you don't mind my asking , which razors are you currently using ?
Cheers,
ScottMirthing my way through life .

Right now I have a vintage Klauberg & Bros. Damascene that gives fantastic shaves, and a Dovo Half-Hollow I bought new from a site that is rubbish. They claimed it was shave-ready, but a 10x loupe showed huge micro-chipping.
I am waiting on a couple vintage buys, but I am most excited to get my TI Super Gnome Extra on Thursday!

Thanked: 993Welcome to the fold.
Check out the restoration and honing threads....we can always use another point of view. It's good for the mind to be open.
