I don't even know where to begin..

So we had purchased a house... once closed then of course comes going into the house and taking care of any upgrades, repairs, pest control (this was an abandoned house since 2007), ect... During this time I was eyeballing the new Master bathroom.. It was HUGE... dual sinks... nice area for me to have some nice shaving time.. even put up my brush holders and installed a small in the wall lock cabinet in my corner to put my razors in and not have to worry about my kiddos getting into them...

After the upgrade and what not then it was my wife's turn, she spent the very next weekend installing the cabinet liners, and taking care of all the stuff that she wanted to do.. THEN the big day.. time to finally move in.. a little over three weeks after closing..

This was the DAY.. we had it all planned out.. pack the Uhaul (with a few friends help) pack the cars with delicate stuff, and trucks with things that didn't fit, then move it all over... get as much unpacked as possible (take care of essentials like beds, kitchen, and of course the BAAAATTTHHHROOOMSS.. After sweating all day and fighting the heat and storms I was REALLY looking forward to getting a nice hot shower and shave.. I knew where everything was (at least I thought I did), so once everything was unloaded, the essentials were taken care of, I went directly to the bathroom to look for my box... no where to be found.. looked all over the place.. then I found it.. open it up.. and....Jewelry.. I just stared at it for a minute then looked at the side where I wrote SHAVING STUFF FRAGILE... so my wife walks up and says "Oh... I needed a small box for my Jewelry so I put the stuff in it into a Kroger bag it had a wooden box to protect it I didn't think it would get hurt... I was speechless.. but then thought to myself.. "ok.. no biggie" so where is the bag.. we hunted and couldn't find it.. I was thinking Oh man every one of my straights are in there maybe I left it at the other house.. We aren't too far away so I drove back to the house.. Once I turned on the country Highway I happen to notice a kroger bag in the middle of the opposite lane... little bit of denial... I though to myself no way can that be it... but as us guys go we have to be curious.. I turn around and pull off to the shoulder... once clear (and in that time quite a few trucks and cars ran this bag over) I ran for it and grabbed it.. I hear the klinking... I didn't want to look into the bag but I did.. all of my straights are in there.. plus my brushes and the wooden cigar box I stowed them in.. The box was crushed.. every scale was craked or smashed, my tweezerman mangled, and the boar hair with a plastic handle didn't make it either... and all but two blades were broken (how in the heck does THAT happen) and the other two the edges had chunks out of em..

Yeeeaaaa.. I was furious.. After cooling down I went home and asked how it ended up on the road and apparently the stuff that was just thrown into bags were put on my brothers truck with the chairs.. "Well they were JUST razors, it can't be THAT big of a deal just get new ones" was the response when I turn red in the face... Changed her tune once I told her how much the 8/8 Filarmonica and the Wade & Butcher Wedge cost.. Not to mention the time I spent on restoring 3 of em, the one I bought here and then there is the First straight I had ever made..

So the moral of this one? Even just something as simple as moving your stuff can be a very BIG rookie mistake.. I should have just put the box into my own car.. or better yet took them over when I took the computer, the PS3, and TV.. I just didn't think that would happen..

Ok.. time to go and look for at least one good replacement so I can start shaving again. At least my strops and honing stones didn't get smashed... those came over with my tools, inside my toolbox. If anyone has a suggestion for a cheaply priced decent razor please let me know, after putting money into the house I don't think I am going to be getting a filarmonica or Wade & Butcher anytime soon...
