Default dumb question for the day......

after you are finished shaving do you rinse the cup out and the brush??

or simply drain the water out of the cup and put them up for tomorrows shave??

i know this sounds silly but to me it is a logical question....

because the washing out of the soap cup seems like a waste of soap...

as my physics professor used to say the only dumb question is the one not asked.

I wash out my shave bowl and brush, and squeeze and shake the brush out. I always have fresh hot water for the next shave. but everyone does differently

My teacher also said opinions are like assholes, everyone has one

no harm in rinsing of the soap though, i hate that dried in crap in the soap bowl..

You can't go by others. Some guys never wash their brushes thinking its a waste of soap. I thoroughly clean all implements after shaving. I think it's hygienic at the least. I'm not worried about "wasting" .0000000001 cent of soap by washing.

Yes, I rinse my brushes and scuttle/bowls out thoroughly after each shave.
My brush dries faster that way, and IMO it reduces the risk of it getting mold and other nastiness in it.

I rinse and squeeze out the excess soap from my brush. Just seems like the right thing to do.

I also rinse out the bowl/scuttle, as I hate soap scum. Still, everyone is different; Your mileage may vary.

+1 I see little reason not to and many reasons to.

I usually rinse everything unless I'm rushing then I leave the soapy brush in my scuttle and clean it later, my brushes are just cheap homemade brushes so I'm not worried about hurting them (if old lather will actually hurt it) if it was a good brush I would probably rinse it anytime.
