Me too! About a year ago, using a heavy wedge, I was switching hands on the fly and essentially butterflied the pad of my left thumb. Just a little embarrassing. "Where'd you get that nasty cut on your thumb?" "I cut myself shaving" followed by a blank stare, me explaining, and then a shaking head. Lesson learned: slow down and enjoy the shave. That is one reason we go through all the trouble, and money, to learn this fine art; to get some peace and satisfaction out of our day.

SWMBO walked in on me last week. I had the music up and jumped. Still waiting for it to heal to shave again. Had to use CA on it to close.

Damn, that looks like a nasty one. If I were you I'd tell people I was in Cairo, a gang of thugs tried to mug you and your lady, you fought them all off and stole their wallets, in the end that scar is all you have to show for it lol.

Seriously though, I doubt she will ever bother you again while you shave lol. Hope you got a good dinner out of it or something lol!

I did EXACTLY this as well..

About a year ago, 3 weeks into straight shaving, shaving XTG, I wound up with my brand-new Dovo Special sticking straight out of my chin at a right angle to my face. Didn't hurt a bit, took about 20 minutes to stop the bleeding enough to be able to finish the shave. Amazingly, left no scar.

The worst cut I got was to my thumb when I was cleaning an old blade up and thocked it into the end of my thumb by mistake.

Claret everywhere, I kid you not. Just because it ain't honed doesn't mean it's not sharp!

Cut myself this morning pretty decently, but it isn't leaving as big a mark as it normally does. To this I attribute the immediate action of the styptic (tears shed, sensitive area), and sunblock after the styptic dried, then antibiotic once I got to work. When I went to apply the antibiotic, I almost couldn't tell where it was. Surprising, since the cut is over an inch in length.

The worse I've had is a 3-way tie for first place.

First, while I was shaving in a hurry before church. Terrible idea. It was about 3 months after I started SRS and I glance at the clock whilst shaving ATG on my left cheek. Bad News Bears. You know how most cuts take a few (5) seconds to bleed? Not this one! I don't think I've ever had anything sting that much with a styptic. Nice scar, to this day!

Second, after getting my Boker (now named: Bucephalus) back from Utopian for honing, my first shave with a spike after nearly 2 years without one, I dug that spike right into my left cheek and rewarded myself with a nice 1/4" vertical scar.

Third, and the final straw that turned Bucephalus into a muted spike, came on my neck while the wife was taking a bath and conversing with me while I shaved Saturday night instead of Church Morning. Dug that spike into the fleshy hollow of my neck just left of my adam's apple. This, too, took to bleeding right away and took just the opposite to stop bleeding. When it happened, I froze and awaited (with bated breath) for the blood. This caused my wife to stop talking, wondering why I was frozen. Upon sight of the cut came the response, "I'm going to stop talking..." Thanks, babe. Love you!

All these on my left cheek/neck, too! Lucky me! Lets see if I can attach a pic, too.

NuSkin, not the large container (which is a spray on) but the small, which has a little brush attached to the screw top for application. It's kind of like super glue, only it's designed for topical use on humans. Never had to use mine because I stuck to a simple set of rules early on (which are now habits). Of course, I don't have children, pets, or those incorrigible wives to deal with! The antibiotic gel should cover most wounds but the big flaps I'm reading about would necessitate more sealing ability. Vitamin E oil and antibiotic is best for healing. Keep up your vitamin K intake, especially if you're on blood-thinning or anti-clotting drugs or use fish oil frequently.

regular ole super glue is awesome for plugging up blood leaks........ i sliced my right thumb to the bone 2.5 weeks ago at work while cutting the bead on a conveyor belt.... it is completely healed now.....*(there is a scar and i heal extremely fast)....

fortunately i have only had minor nicks while shaving none of which required more than a stypic pencil.....

Hmm, when I first started straight razor shaving with a shavette, my cheek merely bumped the blade and I got me one of those cuts. My crazy coworkers (God love 'em) were referring to me as "Baron von Burk".
