I have a couple of wooden test-tube racks in my medicine cabinet; they hold the razors quite well. I got the idea from someone else here on the site.

    Good luck with your blades!
I like the test tube rack idea since I work in a Chemistry lab. I will need to do some looking. For temporary storage I found a cardboard box and glued some foam into it with individual spaces for my razors. I do not want to spend more money on honing

    Hey Coach,

I'm in a humid climate, so the bathroom medicine cabinet, with its extra humidity is not the best storage space. Young ones certainly make you choose storage carefully, but out of the bathroom might be a good ides.

Skin bunching up - seems like a red flag waving to warn of unscheduled surgery. If lather is getting dry - scrub the area up. if its wet, it would indicate that either the stretch isn't happening or effective, or that too much pressure (any pressure) is being used. A year down the road and I'm still learning these basic things. At least the learning is fun and the shaves are wonderful.

I did move the razors to a different room, nice and high so that the kids will not get them. I am still working on the angle, but to get low enough sometimes the whole blade creates a suction on my face. Luckily any pressure happens at the spine instead of the cutting edge and I have been experiencing less irritation. The higher I raise the blade the more noise it makes, but doesn't cut the hair as well.
Thanks and keep the opinions and suggestions coming, I keep learning

    Thanks
Shouldn't bunch up the skin if you stretch it but make sure the motion is mostly forward & not heavy against the skin.

    Coach,

I had one of my razors honed up by a good member here (nun2sharp) and the first night I had it, I carelessly closed it, knowing the scales were a little loose, and jammed it into the scales nicking the edge horribly. I had to send it right back, didn't even get a shave out of it either.

    So, I feel your pain!!

Also, I use a wool roll and a felt roll to hold my razors while not in the back room where I keep my razors. I find they stay consistently dry and protected in a razor roll. And it gives me a little more confidence they will be ok, or mishap free.

    Sorry about your razor coach!

    Mike

You might be able to get another good razor for the price of professionally honing the one you have. But it would take some luck to get one at that price that doesn't need honing too.

Yeah, I could get another razor but the one that fell was my favorite with custom scales and 7/8 near wedge.... I can't find one like that for the price of honing. Oh well, live and learn. I already have changed where I keep my razors.
    Thanks
