Thanked: 275You're doing fine. Ideally, the razor should never shave an area of dry skin -- so "buffing" is a bad idea (though it works for some people). Better to re-lather, and do another pass.
If styptic pencil doesn't burn, feel lucky!
I get better results on my neck if I _really_ stretch the skin in front of the blade. It's loose (at my age, it has a right to be loose), and tends to bunch-up and catch in front of the razor's edge. The temptation to use a DE for the neck is very, very strong.<g>
